Tips To Help Sort Out Your Home Over Easter

Spring has sprung and as Easter approaches, the team here at Shelfstore has started to think about spring cleaning!

Yes it’s that time of year, when the weather starts to improve and we’ve renewed energy to declutter and tidy up, and with the Bank Holiday on the horizon, there’s a great opportunity to make good use of the time off this Easter.

Kitchen Clear Out

Look through your cupboards as well as the fridge and freezer and throw away any food past its sell by date in the recycling bin… you’ll be amazed how much space you create… and you may find food items you had completely forgotten about but which you can still use! Tidy up your cupboards and give away or sell any items, such a crockery, glassware, utensils or gadgets you just don’t use any more.

Eliminate Living Room Clutter

Books, DVDs, CDs and ornaments can cause clutter when left lying around the living room and we often find we don’t have enough storage to tidy them all away neatly. Take a look at how you arrange your furniture to see whether you can fit in extra shelving or cupboards to give you the storage you need. If you have an alcove, you may be able to a create valuable storage area by using a modular system to make best use of your space.

Banish Bedroom Chaos

Our bedrooms can become a dumping ground for all sorts – clothes, toys, books, paperwork – and they no longer offer the sanctuary we need when it comes to relaxing in the evening when it’s time for bed. If you need more wardrobe space for clothes, why not pack away all those clothes that don’t suit the upcoming seasons and put them away in the loft for example, then you can put the space you have created to better use. You might need a shelving unit to fit inside your wardrobe, where you can store shoes and bags, or you may need to fit in an extra cupboard or shelving unit to keep things tidy.
