Top Tips On How To Plan Your New Year’s Eve Party

Do you want to welcome in the New Year with friends and family and have a New Year’s Eve party of your own at home this year? With Christmas now over the team at Shelfstore thought they’d put together some ideas to help inspire you to create a party to remember!

Clear the clutter

After the excitement of opening presents and eating your favourite food over Christmas, it’s time to clear the clutter and tidy away the debris of Christmas. Wrapping paper can be put out for recycling, presents can be tidied away – in cupboards, on shelves or on display – wherever is appropriate, and any edible goodies that might be left can be tucked away in the kitchen.

Choose a theme

Now you’ve made a start on clearing up, it’s time to ditch the Christmas decorations and introduce a new look for your New Year theme! You could consider a sophisticated colour combination such as gold, silver and white for some winter glitz, or perhaps you might want to jazz things up a bit and go for funkier colour theme, such as pink, turquoise and purple. Whatever you choose, pick a theme to give your home a fresh new style!

Add some sparkle

Whatever theme you choose, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere by adding some sparkle. Place LED candles or tea lights grouped together around the room at different heights on book shelves, or window sills on or side tables. You could also use your Christmas fairy lights placed in a clear glass vase to add some subtle light and interest. As midnight strikes light some fireworks in the garden to really welcome the New Year in with a bang or give people handheld sparklers instead.

Keep food simple

By opting for a more informal menu for your guests, it will allow you to spend more time socialising and enjoying the party rather than being tied to the kitchen all evening. You could make food in advance and freeze it, so that all you have to do is defrost it and heat it up on the day, or you could make a cold buffet that could be prepared well before the party starts. Either way by keeping the menu simple and straightforward you can avoid any culinary disasters before the event itself.
